openEuler containers and iSula
openEuler’s container story has its own component family — iSula for containers, StratoVirt for lightweight VMs. This page covers positioning and where everything is published.
Where container images are published
Section titled “Where container images are published”The openEuler-24.03-LTS repo tree carries a docker_img directory (container image publishing) and a stratovirt_img directory (lightweight-VM images) — base images come from the official tree, not third-party registries.
The official container guides
Section titled “The official container guides”The docs center’s Cloud scenario provides comprehensive guides for deploying containers and clusters — iSula and Kubernetes setup live there; this page covers positioning only.
iSula and StratoVirt
Section titled “iSula and StratoVirt”iSula is the community’s container engine (a lightweight C/C++ implementation) competing with Docker/Podman; StratoVirt is a microVM-style lightweight hypervisor between containers and full KVM. Capability details belong to the official docs — this site makes no capability claims.
Choosing a runtime
Section titled “Choosing a runtime”Generic runtime comparisons live on the hub: Podman and Docker vs Podman.
Image update strategy
Section titled “Image update strategy”Base images follow the release line (the docker_img directory): pin tags, rebuild on announcements, never hot-patch running containers. Cloud-side image forms are covered in Cloud and images.
Where to read next
Section titled “Where to read next”Image variants across scenarios are covered in Cloud and images; the KVM side of the stack in Virtualization. Upstream documentation lives in the docs center’s Cloud scenario and the openEuler repo tree.
